><Thinks> Cheque books were a slight pain, but they've pretty much gone now
It was a similar difficulty that spurred me one summer to apply myself
to using my right hand for writing. In my case it was a pad of betting
dockets, which were stapled down the left side. After I'd torn out a
couple of dozen pairs of slips (top one white, the second pink), the
bump created by the leftover stubs, which were still stapled together,
made the pad very difficult to use for a leftie.
In between calls (I was taking telephone bets), I filled pages of a
large notebook with each letter of the alphabet, just as I had when I
first learned to write, but holding the pen in my right hand.
Eventually I was able to jot down customer bets right-handed, and by the
time I was back at university lectures I could take notes right-handed,
though my hand tired very quickly.
